Awards Directory

The Awards Directory is a full listing, with detail, of the awards which FETAC makes available. You can browse the directory in the left hand menu by:

As an alternative to browsing, you can go directly to a specific award if you know its code.

Whatever route you take to get there, when you find an award of interest you will find the relevant information e.g. code, title, type, level, structure etc. Where available, a document called the Award Specification containing detailed information about the award structure and content can be downloaded.

Providers are advised to become familiar with the directory as it includes new common awards which require validation and awards which do not require validation.

Common Awards can be identified by:

  • code number which is made up of the level and the type of award e.g: 5S2467 Pesticide Distribution is a new level 5 special purpose award which comprises 1 minor award 5N2466 Handling and Distribution of Pesticides

  • the award specification which outlines validation requirements.

Managing the transition to the Common Awards System (CAS)
Providers and centres can use the following information notes to manage the change to the Common Awards System.

Level 3 and Level 4 information note (Jan 2012)
Level 5 and Level 6 information note (Jan 2012)

They include information on:

• The schedule for publication and deactivation of awards
• The process for claiming exemptions where learners have previous FETAC certification
• Examples of timelines for the transition to the CAS

Note that:

• Only CAS awards are available at level 3 therefore providers must have validated programmes if offering these
   awards
• All existing level 4 awards will be deactivated on 12 December 2012
Some level 5 and level 6 awards will be deactivated on 12 December 2012. The balance will remain active until
   December 2013
• Requests for information regarding the status of particular awards should be emailed to information@fetac.ie

Specific Validation Requirements
